Meriden tennis players to compete in Australian Junior Open

Four Meriden students are set to take on the Australian Junior Open this weekend.  Violet Apisah (Year 11), Ivana Popovic (Year 11), Patricia Apisah (Year 10) and Michaela Haet (Class of 2016) will compete against the world’s top young tennis players in this prestigious Grand Slam event. 

The girls have been warming up at the Loy Yang Traralgon Junior International, the lead-in event for the Junior Open.  The Loy Yang Traralgon Junior International has provided a training ground for tennis greats such as Roger Federer, Lleyton Hewitt, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Richard Gasquet, Justine Henin, Marion Bartoli and Eugenie Bouchard.

The Australian Junior Open action starts at Melbourne Park on Saturday, 21 January 2017.
