Stunning success for Meriden musicians at Sydney Eisteddfod

Meriden’s musicians gained a phenomenal record of success at this year’s Sydney Eisteddfod with three of the School’s ensembles securing the top places in their respective divisions. Meriden took out the top honours in the Premium Youth Orchestra (19/u), the Female Youth Choir (19/u) and the Primary String Ensemble divisions of the Eisteddfod.
The win by the Senior Singers in the Female Youth Choir division, earned the ensemble a place in the prestigious John Lamble Foundation Australasian Championship for Youth Choirs (19/u). Another stunning performance led them to victory in this event and earned them the right to compete in the Australiasian Choral Grand Prix which will be held on 20 August.
Audiences at the Sydney Eisteddfod also witnessed fine performances by Meriden Sinfonia which won third place in the Intermediate Youth Orchestras division, while the Senior Concert Band and the Chamber Strings ensemble were awarded Highly Commended in their respective sections.
