Top music educators join Meriden’s musicians for Music Festival

Acclaimed vocal artist and actress, Rachael Beck, was one of the extraordinary collection of performers, composers, conductors and musicians who worked and performed with Meriden students throughout the school's week-long Music Festival which took place from 25 to 29 June.
Meriden musicians from Years 3 to 12 revelled in a series of workshops with acclaimed music educators Paul Jarman, Dr Rob McWilliams, Ray Cassar and Rachael Beck and masterclasses in cello, violin and clarinet by renowned musicians Tim Nankervis, Emma Jardine and Mark Walton.
Meriden’s Director of Music (P-12), Mrs Jodie Spooner-Ryan, said, “Our musicians shone throughout the week, inspired by the talent, depth of experience and enthusiasm of the Festival’s special guests. The girls’ joy and passion for their music were clearly on display in the concerts which they performed for the school community and general public.” The public performances included a Choral and Strings Concert, Bands and Orchestras Concert, and Rock Band and Stage Band Concert,
The prominent composer, conductor and multi-instrumentalist, Paul Jarman, summed up his first day of workshops at Meriden with a Facebook post, “Just spent a day at Meriden in Strathfield. I cannot express the joy I feel after working with the inspiring students and teachers. I have so much hope for the future…..I am so grateful to have been there today and I look forward to more heart-warming moments with the inspiring women of tomorrow.”
The week-long Meriden Music Festival culminated with musical theatre workshops and a concert by Rachael Beck. One of Australia's leading performers, Ms Beck’s talents span stage and screen. She is widely remembered for her award-winning role as Belle opposite Hugh Jackman in Beauty and the Beast.
