Tournament Honours for Meriden’s TOM participants
3 September 2018
Meriden girls tested their skills in problem solving, critical thinking and innovation with outstanding results at the regional final of Tournament of Minds on 26 August. Meriden was awarded Tournament Honours in the Social Science and Language-Literature disciplines.
Five enthusiastic teams, comprising thirty-five Years 7 to 10 students, represented Meriden in the final. Weeks of preparing scripts, backdrops and costumes, culminated in ten-minute presentations responding to a long-term challenge and one-minute presentations responding to a spontaneous challenge in one of three disciplines: Language-Literature, Social Science and Arts.
Dr Phoebe Poon, Meriden's Coordinator of Learning Link - Gifted and Talented, said, "Our girls gave spirited performances. I was particularly impressed by their organisational skills and, as always, amazed by their creativity and vision. In order to gain such strong results, our winning teams excelled in both the long-term challenge and the spontaneous challenge."
