Meriden celebrates long-serving teacher

Mrs Kathryn Hynd, the longest-serving teacher currently on Meriden's staff

This month, the Meriden community celebrates the experience and dedication of Mrs Kathryn Hynd, who has been a teacher at Meriden for forty years. This amazing milestone makes Mrs Hynd the longest-serving teacher currently on staff.

Meriden Principal, Dr Julie Greenhalgh, is grateful to Mrs Hynd for her commitment to the School and its students.

“Mrs Hynd is a caring teacher whose experience teaching girls has been an asset to our School,” Dr Greenhalgh said.

“Her knowledge about, and passion for, Mathematics has benefited many generations of students and her ability to provide sensitive pastoral care to girls has encouraged their growth in both academic performance and confidence.”

Mrs Hynd currently works in Meriden’s Academic Support Department, providing intensive Mathematics support to students. In her years at Meriden, she has been a classroom teacher, Year Coordinator, House Advisor and a Coordinator of Mathematics, Global Studies and Anglicare Charities.

Mrs Hynd always knew Mathematics teaching was to be her vocation. She pursued her aspiration after finishing high school and was awarded a teaching scholarship.

She said it has been a privilege to spend so many years educating Meriden girls.

“The most rewarding part of teaching is seeing the progress made by students,” Mrs Hynd said.

“I have been blessed to have interacted with very special, interesting students and I have so enjoyed seeing them build their numeracy skills to become confident in their approach to Mathematics.”

Mrs Hynd said she believes it is Meriden’s caring and nurturing community that makes the School a remarkable place in which to teach and learn.

“Staff and students work together to produce a harmonious community with a strong Christian influence and I have many fond memories of the generosity of the community,” she said.

Congratulations, Mrs Hynd, on this achievement. The Meriden community is grateful for your service to our School.
