I trust girls and their families were able to get some rest during the term break and are looking forward to another term of learning both in and outside the classroom. As we start the term, please take a moment to check that student items – uniform and lunchbox – are labelled with their name. This increases the likelihood of the items finding their way back to their owners in the event they become lost.
At the end of last term our Senior Singers competed in the choral finals of the Sydney Eisteddfod. Competing against several other schools, our students were very impressive in their rendition of their two pieces. The judges awarded our Senior Singers with a victory, a worthy recognition of some beautiful choral music.
On the last day of term, nearly 100 eager cadets commenced the annual Cadets Promotions Camp. Year 9 girls spent two days at Trinity’s Summer Hill campus and then joined Years 10 and 11 at Trinity’s Field Studies Centre on the south coast. Across three courses, students learned about leadership and service and acquired new skills in a range of areas. Term 3 is generally a quieter term for cadets with planning being undertaken for the start of the new training year in Term 4. Current Year 7 students will be given the opportunity to hear about the program and sign up later in the term.
During the term break a team of Meriden athletes toured the Gold Coast and took part in the ‘Coast 2 Coast’ carnival. Our girls competed well, achieving personal bests and medalling in several events.
Term 3 is an exciting time for our Year 12 students and by extension for the rest of the Senior School. At the end of the term our Year 12 Graduation will take place at the ICC at Darling Harbour. All Senior School students attend this milestone event. It is a wonderful way to celebrate the departing Year 12 cohort as a school. This year’s event will take place on Wednesday 24 September.
