When they commence school at Meriden, girls are placed into House groups. There are six Houses – Cumberland, Durham, Kent, Oxford, Sussex and Warwick and each has five officers who lead the House through the year’s activities.
Participation in House activities is a longstanding Meriden tradition. The House system provides an opportunity to make new friends outside the classroom, facilitates across-age friendships and helps new girls gain a sense of belonging in the School.
Community service projects, together with inter-House competitions in sports and performing arts, foster a keen House spirit and help to develop the girls’ leadership and teamwork skills.
