WHY MERIDEN?
academic excellence.
Meriden is one of the top-performing independent schools in the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC). Each year, our girls gain exceptional results and are consistently featured on the HSC All-Round Achievers List. The results of our younger students in external literacy and numeracy testing far surpass the state average and their performance in state-wide individual subject competitions is equally as impressive.

Our holistic educational approach aims to see every student reach her potential. The size and structure of our School balance two important factors: being large enough to cater to a broad range of interests, so every girl can find her niche, with limited class sizes to ensure every girl is individually known by all her teachers and peers. Girls can choose to follow their passions, with specialist staff and facilities dedicated to a range of activities, from sport to visual arts, public speaking to music. In the classroom, our teachers enter a learning partnership with students, establishing each girl’s knowledge and skills and providing her with detailed, specific information about the next step she needs to take to progress. In this way, every girl can experience “a moment in the sun”.

Research shows that young women do best when educated in all-girls’ schools.
Girls’ schools have been developed with the educational, social, physical and emotional needs of girls in mind, and students thrive in this environment that recognises and meets their needs.
Single-sex schools allow girls to be themselves, to achieve higher rates of participation and excellence inside and outside the classroom, to lead and to champion other female leaders and to get to know themselves and grow in confidence in their strengths.

Because the care and growth of the girls are at the heart of everything we do.
Because we deliver exceptional pastoral care
At Meriden, every girl is known and her unique contribution to the life of the School is valued as she realises her gifts and makes her mark. Meriden’s student wellbeing programs are developed and delivered by a highly-qualified team that specialises in girls’ education.
Our proactive model of care recognises that a strong sense of wellbeing is essential for students to achieve their aspirations and learning goals. The key components of wellbeing that are woven through our programs include forming healthy relationships; developing self-awareness, ethical responsibility and meaning and purpose; achieving the conditions for deep learning; and making positive connections with the community.
Because we develop every student.

Because a Meriden education is a future-ready education.
Each time a Meriden girl enters the school gates, she is being prepared for the world outside. Our carefully-crafted curriculum builds girls’ knowledge and skills, particularly in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Our high-tech classrooms allow girls to become adept at using technology to solve problems. Our focus on higher-order thinking skills sees students engage with ethics and philosophy to make sense of the world in all its complexity. In the senior years, girls have the opportunity to attend classes in university settings and with industry leaders to gain real-world experience and connect with mentors in their areas of interest.
Above all, a Meriden education provides girls a supportive place to become young women of integrity: to take calculated risks that build confidence, to grasp leadership opportunities that enhance self-esteem, to participate in outreach initiatives that broaden perspective, and to put down roots in a supportive community from which they grow.
