Increasingly, parents and carers are asking how they can best support their daughters in navigating the opportunities and challenges of the online world. In response, we warmly invite parents and carers of students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 to join us for an informative and practical evening focused on strengthening positive online behaviour.
Wednesday 2 September, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, in the Wallis Auditorium.
This engaging presentation will provide evidence-informed strategies to help families support digital wellbeing, online safety and responsible technology use. Most importantly, it will explore how parents and schools can work together to empower young people to build healthy, positive, and safe online habits.
Grounded in the Latest Research
I was privileged to work alongside Emeritus Professor Donna Cross, Australia’s leading expert in child and adolescent wellbeing and cyberbullying prevention, in developing and delivering this content to educators across New South Wales. Mrs Evans and I are excited to bring this evidence-informed learning directly to our Meriden community.
The session is grounded in the latest research, including the NSW Government’s Protecting Children and Adolescents from Cyberbullying: An Evidence Review of Risk and Protective Factors and Effective Interventions (2024). This comprehensive review examined approximately 2,300 studies across 105 peer-reviewed papers and highlighted the critical role that schools and families play in creating the positive environments young people need to thrive, both online and offline.
What You Will Learn
Parents and carers will leave with practical strategies to build digital literacy, foster open communication, establish healthy technology boundaries and support their daughters in making safe and positive choices online. The session will also explore the importance of listening to young people and engaging them in meaningful conversations about their online experiences.
Save the date for what promises to be a valuable, practical and empowering conversation that you will not want to miss.
