It was wonderful to have so many parents and carers joining us for our recent Strengthening Positive Online Behaviour parent session. Thank you to all the families engaging in this important conversation and contributing to a shared commitment to supporting our students to navigate the online world safely and confidently.
One of the key aims of the evening was to translate the latest research and evidence into practical strategies that families can use at home. We explored the importance of considering age and developmental stage when introducing technology and discussed how family technology agreements can help establish clear expectations and healthy habits. Most importantly, we highlighted that no app, setting or monitoring tool can replace open communication. Students are far more likely to seek support when they know they can talk openly with trusted adults.
We also discussed the value of a balanced approach that combines monitoring and mentoring. Co-use of technology, regular conversations about online experiences and age-appropriate oversight all help build digital resilience and foster responsible online behaviour. Families looking for additional support may find the eSafety Commissioner, SuperParent Powers, and the Beacon App resources particularly helpful, with practical guidance on current trends, online safety and family conversations about technology.
Creating Student Connections
In other wellbeing news, Year 10 are currently leading our whole-school Skipping Challenge, with students across the School embracing the opportunity to be active, connect with others and have some fun along the way.
We marked R U OK? Day through a Senior School pastoral activity that encouraged students to notice and appreciate the strengths of others in their Tutor group and let them know. By recognising the strengths of others, students strengthened connections while also being reminded to notice and respond to those around them with care and compassion, reflecting our Fidelis value of Compassion.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in supporting the wellbeing of our students.
