Belinda Ji smashes course record, wins golf tournament

Belinda Ji, Golf

Year 11 golfer Belinda Ji has secured a stunning victory from three shots behind at the prestigious Jack Newton Junior Golf 2018 Bonville Championship. Belinda didn’t just win the tournament, she fired a final round of six under par, breaking the course record in the process.

“On the day, I was quite relaxed and I wasn’t really thinking about how many shots I was behind the leader, but rather about my process, focussing on one shot at a time,” Belinda said.

“It was definitely a highlight to achieve a new personal best and break the course record at Bonville!”

The Bonville Champions Trophy is an invitation-only event where competitors are invited to participate by winning a scratch age or overall event at a Jack Newton Junior Golf Tour event throughout the year.

Like many of Meriden’s athletes, Belinda feels the challenge of striking a balance between her sporting, academic and social commitments.

“With the higher demands of school work in Year 11, I am trying my best to improve my time management skills in order to juggle school, work and golf. This year, my goals are to get into the NSW State Team and compete in higher-level tournaments nationally and internationally,” Belinda said.

Congratulations on your win, Belinda; we know your wonderful work ethic will help you succeed.
