Term 2 has commenced and it feels like winter is on the way. Girls are reminded that in Terms 2 and 3, the winter uniform must be worn, including stockings. Blazers should also be worn to and from school.

Over the Easter break, many girls were involved in a number of activities. Year 9 students who are undertaking their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award headed to the Colo River to complete their Adventurous Journey. The girls learnt navigation and camping skills and completed bushwalking and canoeing activities.

Year 12 cadets, Adelaide Loane and Sophie Brennan, completed the gruelling National Adventure Training Award, held over five days in Tasmania.

Our sportswomen competed in various state and national competitions in a number of sports, including athletics, badminton, swimming, tennis and water polo.

Over three hundred excited musicians boarded buses last Sunday afternoon to head to the annual Music Camp, held at Stanwell Tops, where they prepared repertoire for upcoming eisteddfods.

All of these activities have been supported by a legion of Meriden staff who make these valuable activities possible; my sincere thanks go to those involved.

Next Tuesday 9 May, the second Amadeus Concert will be held in Wallis Auditorium from 6:00pm. Members of the Meriden community are invited to support this evening and hear from some of our most talented musicians. On Friday 12 May, the annual Parents and Friends’ Association Mother’s Day Breakfast will be held at Waterview in Bicentennial Park. This will be a great morning for mothers and their daughters.

The Senior School Athletics Carnival will be held on Wednesday 17 May at Homebush. Girls are to make their own way to and from the venue. Normal school bus routes will extend their runs to the venue, and a small group of Year 7 students will travel from Meriden if required. Please make sure your daughter has her House shirt ready to wear on the day.

Vaccinations administered by NSW Health are available onsite at Meriden for Years 7 and 10 girls on certain dates throughout the year. Year 10 students will receive the Meningococcal vaccination on Tuesday 30 May. The enrolment and consent process has moved to an online system, which uses the Service NSW portal.
