The end of term and year rush is upon us. There are several key events coming up in the life of the school that will take place prior to students dispersing for the Christmas holidays.
The Senior School Speech Night is an annual celebration of the achievements of our students. It is a compulsory event for all students in the Senior School. This year, the event will be held at Sydney Town Hall on Wednesday 6 December, commencing at 6:00pm and concluding at around 7:30pm. All students must present themselves in the vestibule (front foyer) for roll marking at 5:40pm before taking their seats. Parents are encouraged to attend. Complimentary tickets are available to be booked here. Please note students are not required to book tickets. Musicians and prize winners will receive additional information.
Prior to this last event for the year, Music under The Stars Concert will take place tomorrow evening (Friday 24 November). The various music ensembles have been preparing for this joyful event, and the Parents and Friends’ Association is looking forward to providing a BBQ and gelato. Bring your picnic rug and reindeer antlers for this fun family event.
The Cadets Bivouac takes place from Sunday 26 to Tuesday 28 November and is a highlight of the year, especially for the new Year 7 cadet recruits and student leaders.
Our Family Carols Service takes place on Thursday 30 November. It is a special time to come together and sing carols as a community as we look forward to celebrating the birth of our saviour, Jesus.
A number of tours are due to take place between now and the start of the new academic year. Activities for Athletics, Basketball, Chess and Tennis, as well as the France Exchange Tour and the History Tour to Germany, are all scheduled to take place. We wish them safety and success in these ventures and look forward to hearing about these amazing experiences early next year.

I hope all students and families enjoy some rest over the Christmas break and are reminded, amongst the busyness and presents, of the great joy and hope that the birth of Jesus brings to all people and the work his death and resurrection offer us – reconciliation and peace with God.
I look forward to seeing all girls on Thursday 1 February 2024 for a new and exciting year at Meriden.
