We are thankful for the involvement of Junior School parents in the recent interview sessions with teachers. The next round of interviews is scheduled for Monday 29 July and Monday 5 August. These conversations are just one of the opportunities to share the girls’ learning and progress: parents will receive comprehensive written feedback at the end of each semester, and ongoing work samples through the digital portfolio. The girls are also looking forward to their learning showcases later in the year.
The digital portfolio can be a helpful way to start conversations at home about what the girls are learning at school. Questions such as, “What did you do well?” and “What are the next steps you could take to improve?” help the girls develop self-evaluation skills. These prompts are also addressed in feedback from the teacher that accompanies the work samples.
Each Year 1, 2, and 3 class will have a learning showcase in Blackman Auditorium. Parents are welcome to attend when their daughter’s class is presenting. Parents of girls in Years 4, 5, and 6 are invited to attend a learning showcase hosted by their daughter’s year group. The year group showcases are designed so that the girls can share whole projects with a real-life audience.
