The School has celebrated some key events in the last two weeks. I greatly enjoyed watching the Drama production, Daisy Pulls it Off, the Saturday before last. It was the culmination of several months of rehearsals and hard work. The finished product was a delight to experience, seeing the girls working together on stage and making drama with many laughs as well.

Our Tennis team was victorious at the recent Tildesley Shield tournament for a record fifteenth time in a row. I was able to watch some matches on the first day and was impressed by the skill, discipline, and fair play of the girls on court. Equally impressive was the support and encouragement they received from their peers and coaches off the court. Parents from the Friends of Meriden Sport (FOMS) community group ran the BBQ and their efforts are greatly appreciated.

Tonight (Thursday 14 March), Year 9 parents and their daughters are invited to attend a briefing regarding the Service Camp opportunities for camps held in November this year, in Wallis Auditorium at 6pm. The girls have already heard from the external providers during pastoral time, and this evening provides parents and daughters the chance to hear more about the camp proposals. This year, there are Service Camps to South East Queensland, Cape York, and Fiji, as well as a camp based around Port Hacking and the Sutherland Shire.

On Friday 22 March (Week 8), our Swimming and Diving team will compete at the IGSA Carnival at SOPAC, Homebush. All Year 8 students will attend part of the carnival to support their peers and the other schools. Year 8 will leave school at recess and return by 3pm, travelling by bus. Girls will need a packed lunch for this day, as Blue Bell Café (canteen) orders will not be available for Year 8.

Sadly, after being cancelled due to extreme heat, we have been unable to reschedule the Fun Run. Girls who are interested in representing the school at the IGSA Cross Country carnival are encouraged to trial on one of two dates: Monday 18 March morning at Strathfield Park, or Tuesday 19 March afternoon at Homebush. Sports staff have emailed all students with full details and registration requirements. Transport to school on the Monday morning (one way) and transport on Tuesday afternoon (there and back) has been arranged.
