Winter is upon us and the days are getting cooler and shorter. Please ensure your daughter dresses warmly each day for school, including sport practices and matches. Also, please pick up your daughter promptly after after-school activities, preferably from outside the Sports Centre, which is well lit.

The Senior School Athletics Carnival was a great success last week. Thank you to Coach Nicole and Mr Mark Heathcote for orchestrating a fun and fast Track and Field meet. We were blessed with fantastic weather: the girls ran, jumped and threw with much positive House spirit. We look forward to a select team of athletes representing Meriden at the upcoming IGSA Athletics Carnival.

Students in the various music ensembles have been eagerly preparing for their Eisteddfod performances with the Performing Arts staff, as the girls are currently amid a festival of music. There have already been some very pleasing results, including first place to the Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonia in their respective divisions. It has been most encouraging to see the hours of rehearsal come to fruition in ensemble performances of a very high standard. Congratulations to our musicians, especially our Year 12 students, for whom this will be their last year representing Meriden, and to our dedicated and skilled Music team, so ably led by Ms Jodie Spooner-Ryan.

Please note that this Monday is the King’s Birthday public holiday, and girls are not expected at school. We return on Tuesday for a shorter week as we look towards the last month of term.
