Year 7 – 12 arrangements for Graduation
One of the key events at our school is the Year 12 Graduation event held every year in Term 3. The entire Senior School meets to acknowledge, celebrate and send off the graduating class. This year, Graduation will take place at the ICC, Darling Harbour Theatre, from 10am on Wednesday 25 September.
Please note the following arrangements:
Year 12
Students are to make their own way to the venue; they are not expected at Meriden in the morning. Year 12 students should report to Ms Bass by 9am at the ICC, Level 2, near Door 1.
Musicians
Musicians have received additional instructions from the Music Department. They will make their own way to the ICC by 6:45am or by bus leaving Meriden at 6:15am.
At the conclusion of the event, musicians will be transported back to Meriden by bus.
Year 7 to 11 students
All other students in Years 7 to 11 are to come to Meriden as per a normal school day by 8:00am. Rolls will be marked at 8:20am, and once finalised, girls will be transported to the ICC by bus.
Girls should ensure they have had breakfast as usual and should bring a small item of food for morning tea, to be eaten prior to the commencement of the event at 10am.
At the conclusion of the event, all girls in Years 7 to 11, including musicians, will be transported back to Meriden by bus.
Girls should have their learning materials for Periods 4 and 5.
Siblings of Year 12 girls
Any siblings of girls in Year 12 may make their own way with their families to the ICC and may remain with their families after the event for lunch.
If this is planned, parents should notify the school as usual for a part day absence. Please do this prior to the day.
Archdale Debating and IGSA Chess
As we come to the end of another term, we also come to the end of another season of activities, including sport, Archdale Debating and IGSA Chess. It has been pleasing to witness the girls’ improvement in skill and teamwork throughout the term and their sportsmanship.
Those teams competing in finals this weekend are encouraged to do so with great effort and to enjoy the moment with their teams and coaches.
The Archdale Debating competition began in Term 2 and it was a great achievement to have five teams move through the preliminary rounds to the finals. Our 8A, 8B and Junior team progressed through to the grand final of their divisions, and both Year 8 teams were victorious. Congratulations to all debating team members for a successful Archdale campaign this year.
Meriden hosts the IGSA Chess finals tomorrow afternoon and a number of Meriden teams are competing. The Chess Club has blossomed in the last five years in both size and skill. Friday afternoons are abuzz with chess activity and a great sense of camaraderie can be felt. We wish all girls well as they compete in the IGSA finals.
Term 4 summer uniform
