Students in Years 7 to 9 will participate in the annual National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) from Wednesday 12 March to Friday 14 March. NAPLAN is designed to measure student progress in literacy and numeracy skills over time and help identify strengths and areas for improvement.
The girls completed sessions this week to remind them of the online testing process. Please reassure your daughter that the work already completed at school is sufficient preparation and that she does not need to do any further study. We appreciate your assistance in keeping NAPLAN in perspective.
Other than a pen, the students will be given everything they need to complete NAPLAN, including some headphones. The assessments for Years 7 and 9 will be held on the following days:
- Wednesday 12 March : Writing
- Wednesday 12 March : Reading
- Thursday 13 March: Language Conventions
- Friday 14 March: Numeracy
The online tests follow tailored pathways. Students begin with a similar set of questions and subsequent questions are easier or harder depending on the accuracy of their responses. Each student’s experience is likely to be slightly different, meaning that it is possible to conduct catch-up tests. If your daughter is away due to illness, we have a limited window of time to allow her to sit the test. Girls competing in the IGSA Swimming and Diving Carnival on Friday 14 March will complete the numeracy assessment on Monday 17 March.
