The last two weeks of term have seen many exciting activities in the Meriden community.

Winter Saturday Sport is progressing well, and I enjoyed watching Year 7 Team 6 Football play in pleasant conditions at Sydney Olympic Park. The girls played very well and were rewarded with a win. The coaching staff have commended them and the Meriden Football squad in general for their commitment and improvement over the term. Parent spectators are reminded to be positive in their support during matches; please show respect to Meriden and opposition players and coaches, as well as to officials.

Last Friday evening saw the Year 9 Father and Daughter Dinner take place. It was a great evening with dads and their daughters enjoying each other’s company and the dance floor. This coming Friday, there is also a chance for parents of Year 10 students to meet at the Sydney Rowing Club from 6:00pm for a relaxed social evening, details of which can be found here. A similar event for Year 8 parents is scheduled for Friday 13 June, details of which can be found here.

In Music, the Sydney Eisteddfod has commenced, and the school has entered ensembles in many divisions. Our musicians will perform repertoire they prepared at Music Camp early in the term at The Concourse, Chatswood, a wonderful venue.

A select group of cadets have been practising their drill in addition to their normal parade commitments. On Wednesday, they competed with students from other cadet units in Waverley.

Over 130 Meriden students are looking forward to heading to Fuel Camp, the annual school Christian camp with peers from Trinity Grammar School. It takes place this weekend at Collaroy.

Please be reminded that Monday 9 June is a public holiday and as such the school will be closed. Students and staff return on Tuesday for lessons.
