Your daughter’s Semester 1 report will be sent via email on the last day of term, providing an overview of her progress across the Key Learning Areas, her Next Steps for Learning, and her learning practices. When you receive her report, you might find it helpful to consider her effort, resilience and learning goals alongside her academic growth.
If your daughter receives consistent grades across semesters, this indicates she is making progress. As your daughter moves through the year, the expectations and complexity for each grade level increase. A ‘Sound’ achievement in Semester 1 represents mastery of more sophisticated concepts and skills than a ‘Sound’ grade from the previous semester. When your daughter consistently achieves at the same level, she is making the expected progress by successfully meeting the increasingly challenging expectations at each stage of her learning.
Each report includes Next Steps for Learning, which form an integral part of our continuous assessment and learning cycle. Our teachers use ongoing assessment to carefully observe your daughter’s learning, plan appropriate next challenges, implement targeted teaching and evaluate her progress. These next steps represent where your daughter is ready to stretch and grow in developmentally appropriate ways.
In conjunction with the Semester 1 report, exploring your daughter’s Seesaw digital portfolio can provide additional insights into her learning. This platform captures ongoing learning through work samples, photographs, videos and reflections, showing her growth throughout the year in ways that complement her formal report. The portfolio offers opportunities for conversations about learning at home. Attending our Learning Showcases is another way you can observe the learning that occurs daily in our classrooms.
Our teachers look forward to discussing your daughter’s Semester 1 report with you at the Parent-Teacher interviews, held early in Term 3. These conversations provide an opportunity to discuss her progress, celebrate her achievements, and share insights about supporting her continued growth.
