Mr Loane
Head of Campus

During Assembly this week, Meriden students heard from Mr Jason Sotiris, founder and CEO of Supertee, an organisation that produces novel hospital gowns for children. Cumberland House have partnered with this organisation as their service focus this year and held an activity earlier this term to raise awareness and money for this organisation. Mr Sotiris gave a brief address which gave some background to the organisation and its aims. Children are encouraged and their imaginations are sparked during their hospital stay when they are able to wear one of Supertee’s themed gowns, such as the Space Commander and Captain Marvel. A simple garment can have a positive impact on a young person’s stay at hospital. See the Supertee website to learn more about and support this organisation.

Meriden musicians have been busy performing at the Sydney Eisteddfods in a number of divisions over the last fortnight. The girls have performed extremely well and are looking forward to the Ensembles Concert held this evening from 6:00pm in Wallis Auditorium. All members of the Meriden community are invited to attend and experience an evening of beautiful music.

The cadets training year has come to an end, concluding with the Annual Ceremonial Parade and Dining In Night held yesterday at Trinity Grammar School. Continuing cadets in Years 9-11 who have nominated for promotion will attend a camp beginning on the last day of term, please refer to the event on Parent Lounge.

As we look forward to a break, I would like to remind students and parents to please ensure their belongings are labelled clearly with a first and last name. This makes it much easier for items to be returned. I hope all families are able to enjoy some rest and warmth over the winter break after a term full of learning in and outside the classroom.

Please note that the first day of lessons for all students in Term 3 is Tuesday 22 July.
