Term 3 is well and truly underway, including sport. Meriden hosts a Badminton invitational competition on Friday afternoons, and on Saturdays, girls compete in IGSA Netball and Football. I would like to encourage all parents to support their daughters as they take part in sport. Please model respectful support to all players, coaches and officials while the girls enjoy playing as part of a team and developing their skills in their respective sports.

From time-to-time it is appropriate for families to review school bus usage. Please email the school on administrationoffice@meriden.nsw.edu.au to make a regular ongoing booking. For ad-hoc bookings, up to three weeks in advance, please use the RollCall app.

Last Thursday and Friday evening saw our HSC Music students present a showcase of their repertoire for the upcoming HSC exams. Both evenings were joyful events of high-quality music and a fitting culmination for our Year 12 cohort’s musical studies at Meriden. Please keep an eye out for upcoming showcases in Drama and other subjects in the school calendar.

I would like to remind families of the Year 12 Graduation service, to be held on Wednesday 24 September held at the ICC at Darling Harbour. This is a highlight of the year as we celebrate and send off our outgoing Year 12 cohort and it is a compulsory event for students in Years 7 – 11. We have also rescheduled our Senior School House Choral Festival to be held at the same venue on the same afternoon. It will be a great space to hold the Festival, for which the girls have already begun to rehearse.

In Week 4, STEM Week will be held with a number of engaging initiatives for the girls to get involved in. There will be a Science Showcase on Wednesday afternoon in Wallis Auditorium, where students can explain and promote their Science Research Projects.

In Week 5, on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 August, Meriden athletes will compete in the IGSA Athletics Carnival at Olympic Park. This is the culmination of much training and competition, including the School Athletics Carnival, a tournament on the Gold Coast in the holidays and Friday evening twilight competitions in early Term 3. Year 7 students will go to the event on Friday, after attending their normal Period 1 and 2 lessons, and will travel to and from the venue by bus in time for a normal dismissal.
