It was wonderful to provide a venue for the Inner West Youth Event last Friday night held in Wallis Auditorium and to welcome many local youth groups to Meriden. Over 600 young people came and heard a message about Jesus offering living water at the well from Ben Staunton. The gospel was clearly presented through the sermon and through singing, it was an encouraging event.
Last week also saw some of our Theatresports students contest the All Girls Shield. The girls performed well in this improvisation-style event and were runners-up in the competition. Our Debating students have been working hard since the beginning of the year and have now made their way through the preliminary rounds of the IGSA Archdale Debating competition. Over a series of Tuesday afternoon workshops and evening debates, the girls have shown great improvement and skill in their craft of debating. It is most pleasing to note that all teams have qualified for the quarterfinals. Meriden hosted this event on Tuesday of this week.
This week sees our Athletics team compete at the IGSA Carnival on Thursday afternoon and all day on Friday. We wish students all the best and hope for many personal best performances.
The HSC Drama Showcase also takes place this Thursday and Friday evenings. The Meriden community is invited to enjoy an evening of exciting dramatic works, both individual performances and ensemble pieces.

Year 12 Trial Examinations have now come to an end and the path to Graduation gets shorter. I would like to remind Year 12 families they can book seats for this event using the link https://www.trybooking.com/DBSFP. There are a limited number of seats available.
Furthermore, all families should note that this is our most significant student event, the graduation of our senior students, and as such it is compulsory for all Senior School students to attend. Year 12 Graduation will take place on Wednesday 24 September.
