It has been wonderful to welcome the girls back to school this week. They have returned well‑rested, excited to reconnect with friends and looking forward to new learning experiences. Term 4 always has a special buzz in the Junior School, and there is a sense of anticipation for the many events ahead, especially the Outdoor Education Camps that our Years 3 to 6 girls will embark on during Week 3.
I was thrilled to hear recently that two of our former Junior School girls have been appointed to senior leadership roles in the Senior School for 2026: Abigail Sidhom as Head Prefect and Annabelle Allen as Deputy Head Prefect. I remember a conversation with Abigail during her time in the Junior School, when she spoke about how much she valued the consistency of our school uniform. She said it allowed every girl to be herself, without the differences that accessories or jewellery can create. Abigail’s reflection is a reminder of why we place importance on wearing our uniform correctly. Research shows that school uniforms help reduce social comparison, minimise distractions from learning, and build a stronger sense of belonging.
As we settle into the term, teachers and I will continue helping the girls remember our uniform expectations, which are outlined in the Junior School Planner. We ask that girls wear their uniform neatly and with pride. Blazers are not needed to be worn for travel to and from school during Terms 1 and 4, but they are required for Chapel, Assemblies, and formal occasions like Prize Giving. Earrings, if worn, should be purchased from the Uniform Shop, and necklaces, bracelets, or other jewellery should stay at home. These expectations help reduce unnecessary distractions around appearance, allowing girls to focus on their learning and friendships.
I look forward to seeing many of you throughout the term, whether on the sidelines at Saturday Sport, or at one of our special family events, including:
Family Carols: Thursday 4 December, 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Junior School Christmas Chapel: Monday 8 December, 8:45am
