It was wonderful to welcome our girls and their families to the Junior School this morning. There were squeals of delight and hugs as friends reconnected after the summer, and it was encouraging to see new students, many of whom met for the first time at last week’s New Student Orientation smiling and greeting their newfound friends. There was particular joy at Lingwood, where our youngest students in Pre-K and Kindergarten began their school journey; a significant moment for both the girls and their families.
Over the past two weeks, our staff have been preparing classrooms, refining programs, and working together to ensure everything is ready for our girls’ return. Our teachers are excited about the learning ahead, and I am confident that together we will continue to build on the strong foundation that makes Meriden Junior School such a special place to learn and grow.
Meet the Teacher Evenings
You will have received an email last week outlining some changes to our Meet the Teacher Evenings this year. Based on feedback and reflection, we have designed an approach that prioritises time with your daughter’s class teacher while still providing insight into specialist subjects and whole-school focus areas.
This year, the evenings will focus on time in your daughter’s classroom with her class teacher, allowing you to learn about the year ahead in that specific learning environment. Our specialist teachers have prepared videos introducing their subject areas, which will be available online in the coming weeks. Following the classroom sessions, there will be an opportunity to hear from Senior Staff about their areas of focus and how these connect to your daughter’s learning.
This is the first year we are trialling this approach, and I am keen to hear your feedback after the sessions. Your insights will help us continue to refine how we work together as partners in your daughter’s education.

JSA Twilight Picnic – Saturday 14 February
The Junior School Auxiliary is hosting the Twilight Picnic on Saturday 14 February from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on the Junior School campus. This is always a lovely opportunity to connect with other families in a relaxed setting, and I hope many of you will be able to join us.
