It was a pleasure to welcome the girls and staff back for Term 3. On the Monday before the girls returned, our teachers spent part of the day together sharing the programs they had planned for the term. Listening to them talk through their programs, I know the girls will be challenged and excited by the new learning this term.
It was wonderful to have so many parents here on Monday evening for our first round of Parent Teacher Interviews, talking with teachers about their daughter’s progress and her next steps for learning. I look forward to our second evening on Monday 3 August.
Keeping Connected
On Wednesday 5 August at 4pm, we will conduct a test of our emergency messaging systems. You will receive both an SMS from Meriden and an app notification reading: “We are testing our emergency messaging system. No action is required from you at this time.” Please feel free to disregard the message when it arrives.
JSA Move-a-thon
On Friday 14 August the girls will take part in the JSA Move-a-thon. This event is the JSA’s major fundraising event of the year, and the money raised will go towards improving the Junior School playgrounds. The girls will participate in six different activities and they will rotate through them in their House groups. Many of the girls are excited about being creative with crazy hair. My thanks to the JSA for organising this event, for providing ice blocks for the girls on the day, and for their ongoing support of the Junior School.
How Student Disability Support Information is Collected
Each year, every school in Australia takes part in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD), which helps governments plan support for students with disability. Students who receive ongoing adjustments at school because of disability, will be counted in this year’s collection, and parent consent is not required. We provide the data in a format that protects the privacy of individual students. You can read more in the fact sheet for parents, guardians and carers.
Looking Ahead to a Full Term
The term ahead is a full one, with the Athletics Carnival for Years 3 – 6, Science Week, Book Week, the Father’s Day Breakfast and the Junior School Musical among the highlights. Many girls and teachers, myself included, are busily planning Book Week costumes, and we are encouraging the girls to be creative with something already in their wardrobe. I look forward to seeing many of you at the events this term.
