Through my conversations with parents, I know that many of you are concerned about your daughter’s screen use and are seeking practical advice and strategies to support healthy screen habits at home.
Mrs Laura Brennan, Head of Student Wellbeing, and I warmly invite all parents and carers of students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 to join us for an informative and practical evening focused on strengthening positive online behaviour.
Wednesday 2 September, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, in the Wallis Auditorium.
The evening draws on current research and the work of the eSafety Commissioner. Together, we will look at how regular, open conversations at home support confident technology use. We will provide practical tools and guidance to support healthy technology use at home. Topics will include developing a family technology-use agreement, configuring digital safety settings, and assessing developmental readiness for devices and social media.
This presentation draws on a professional learning program developed by Mrs Brennan during her time at Independent Schools NSW and completed by Meriden staff. The session is grounded in the latest research, including the NSW Government’s Protecting Children and Adolescents from Cyberbullying: An Evidence Review of Risk and Protective Factors and Effective Interventions (2024). It is designed to strengthen the partnership between home and school by providing parents and carers with practical tools, strategies, and insights to support positive online behaviours.
Our hope is that you will leave with evidence-based strategies for guiding your daughter’s technology use, and with the confidence to keep the conversation going at home. All parents are warmly invited to attend.
Junior School Move-a-Thon
It was a joy to watch the girls participate in the Move-a-Thon with such energy and enthusiasm, encouraging one another and enjoying the activities alongside their friends.
Many of the girls embraced the crazy hair theme, and I am grateful to the parents who rose early to help make it happen.
Thank you to our families for your generous donations, which will contribute to upgrades to the Junior School Playground. We also thank Ms Wassef for organising the day, and Mrs Dent and the PDHPE team for developing the activities.
