On multiple occasions this term, I have been deeply reminded of our Senior School girls’ ability to positively influence others by sharing their talents so willingly and with such conviction.

Supporting One Another

One striking example was the two-night showcase celebrating our HSC Music students and their incredible performances. What you may not have noticed was the quiet support of our younger students. They willingly accompanied the performers on instruments, sang backing vocals, and offered constant encouragement to their Year 12 peers. They did not do this for personal accolades, but to serve our Year 12 girls during their final performances at Meriden and support them in their HSC studies.

In a recent Student Chapel, we also heard from several Senior School students about what motivates them to work hard. They shared that their commitment is driven not simply by personal ambition, but by a desire to use their education, gifts and opportunities in service of others. Whether aspiring to become teachers, engineers, doctors or leaders, they spoke about the difference they hope to make in the lives of those around them and in the broader community.

Leadership as Service

As we begin the nomination and voting process for our 2027 leadership positions, I want to acknowledge the many Year 10 and Year 11 students who have bravely put themselves forward for House Officer and Prefect roles. In stepping forward, these girls are not simply seeking a title but responding to an opportunity to serve.

We pray that each student seeks to honour God through humility, courage, and compassion, knowing that true leadership begins long before a badge is worn. Regardless of the election outcomes, we encourage every girl to develop their capacity to lead, whether formally or informally. Leadership takes many forms. Some will lead by speaking, while others will make an equally significant impact through organising, encouraging, listening and serving behind the scenes.

• Year 7 IGSA Athletics Supporters: Year 7 students will travel to the IGSA Athletics Track Championships on Friday 21 August to cheer on our athletes. If your daughter is in Year 7, please ensure you have accepted the relevant permissions via the Meriden Parent App. Students will collect their lunch orders at recess prior to departure; lunch orders are limited to carnival packs. Students will return by 3:10 PM.
• Road Safety: Thank you for your continued patience and vigilance during peak drop-off and pick-up times. Please be mindful of No Stopping zones, keep driveways clear, and remind your daughters to always use designated pedestrian crossings.
