Meriden Water Polo players selected to represent CIS
10 November 2014
Six Water Polo players from Meriden will make up the 22 person squad to represent CIS (Combined Independent Schools Sports) in 2015.
Cathryn Prout, Mollie Williams, Brooke McClean, Zoe Whelan-Young, Georgia Gardner and Grace Watson-Carr were selected at the CIS Trials held on 10 November.
CIS provides a pathway to state and national level competition in a number of sports. The CIS Water Polo squad will compete at the NSW All Schools Water Polo Championships in March 2015. From that event, players will be selected to represent the NSW All Schools team to compete at the SSA (Secondary Schools Association) Water Polo Championships which, in turn, leads to the selections for the Australian School Girls’ squad.
Four of Meriden’s six selected players have previously represented CIS in Water Polo, with two girls, Mollie Williams and Brooke McClean successfully going on to represent Australia at the Pan Pacific Championships.
