Amity Winwood-Smith (Year 6) has achieved an outstanding sporting milestone, earning selection in the CIS Primary Girls Football Team following her impressive performances at the IPSHA and CIS Football Trials.
Standing Out Amongst the Best
The trials brought together 66 talented footballers from independent schools across Sydney, all demonstrating exceptional skill, determination and game awareness. Throughout the selection process, Amity consistently stood out with her versatility, technical ability and understanding of the game.
Excellence on the Field
Playing predominantly in the Centre Midfield and Centre Back positions, Amity showcased excellent attacking and defensive skills. Her ability to control possession, manoeuvre the ball around opponents and create scoring opportunities was particularly impressive. She also demonstrated composure under pressure and precision when striking the ball, contributing significantly to her team’s success.
Recognition for Strong Performances
Amity was one of the standout performers throughout the championships and played a key role in the IPSHA Team’s Runner-Up finish. Her strong performances were recognised by selectors, resulting in her selection for the CIS Primary Football Team.
Representing CIS at the State Championships
As a member of the CIS team, Amity will now compete at the NSWPSSA Football Championships in Tuggerah this September, where she will represent Combined Independent Schools against the best primary school footballers from across New South Wales. This achievement is the result of Amity’s dedication, commitment and hard work over many years. She currently plays for the Western Sydney Wanderers and is the youngest player in her squad, a testament to her talent and determination to continually improve her game.
