Meriden encourages and supports high achievement across all areas of the curriculum and is committed to nurturing each student’s individual talents. In addition to its outstanding record of academic achievement, the School is recognised for excellence in cocurricular activities, particularly in the fields of Music and Sport.
Students from within the Meriden community and students who are studying at other schools are invited to apply for a scholarship. Please note, the scholarship applicant must be a permanent resident of Australia. Students who are on student visas are ineligible for a scholarship at Meriden.
Academic Scholarships
for entry in Year 7
Academic Scholarships cover full or part tuition fees for up to six years.
All applicants are required to sit a scholarship examination. The examination for students applying for entry in Year 7 2026 will be held at Meriden on Saturday 8 February 2025.
Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the School Council Scholarship Committee and are based on the result of the scholarship examination, previous academic record, interview and other criteria, including the potential for involvement in several areas of the life of the School.

Music Scholarships
for entry in Year 7
Music Scholarships for voice, piano, band and orchestral instruments cover full or part tuition fees up to the HSC. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of an audition, academic record and interview, at the discretion of the School Council Scholarship Committee.
The standard for a Music Scholarship at Meriden is very high and applicants are encouraged to read the eligibility and application requirements prior to completing an application form. Applicants are not required to sit the Academic Scholarship examination but may be selected to attend an audition.

The Betty Stephen Memorial Sport Scholarship
This scholarship is open to a girl who is talented in sport and entering Year 9 or Year 10. It is subject to availability of a place in the relevant entry year at the time of application and is based on sporting ability, general ability in both academic and cocurricular areas, school reports, and interview. The scholarship covers up to 75% of the tuition fees to Year 12. Applicants may be a current Meriden student or a student studying at another school.
Applicants should have strength in a particular sport, preferably a sport that is also offered at Meriden, and be competing at a state or national level. Any student who is awarded a Betty Stephen Memorial Sport Scholarship is expected to contribute generously to the sporting life of Meriden.
Applicants are not required to sit the Academic Scholarship examination.
Applications for entry in Year 9 or Year 10 in 2026 will close on 31 January 2025.

Senior School Scholarship
for a Meriden Student
A scholarship worth at least fifty per cent of the tuition fees for Years 7 to 12 at Meriden is awarded to the Year 6 Meriden student who achieves the highest result in the scholarship examination. The recipient of this scholarship may not necessarily be the Dux of the Junior School.
