Term 4 is well underway and learning and cocurricular activities are in full swing.

It has been pleasing to see our girls compete in various sporting fixtures and to see parents positively supporting their daughters’ teams on the sidelines. I have appreciated being able to touch base with some of you in these settings and noted your appreciation of being able to enjoy spectating Meriden sport. All girls are encouraged to give their best in their sporting matches, to work together as a team, further their own personal skills during matches and training, and respect their opponents and referees.

Year 10 will attend the RYDA Road Safety Program on Tuesday 1 November, at Olympic Park. This is a valuable learning experience, especially as the girls become old enough to apply for their driver’s licence and take on the responsibility of operating a vehicle.

On Friday 11 November, Year 10 students will take part in the first Student Futures Day held at the School. During the day, students will meet Meriden Alumnae mentors, take part in an interview bootcamp and attend a careers expo with various tertiary institutions.

Week 5 is an exciting week for girls in Years 8 and 9. Having finished their examinations, they embark on a school camp. There are several camps running and preparations are almost complete. Please ensure that you carefully read the related documentation, paying close attention to the equipment/clothing lists and details of timings. These documents are accessible via the Parent Lounge website.

Camps play a vital role in the girls’ educational journey and personal development. Girls are encouraged to embrace this opportunity with an open mind and a willingness to challenge themselves, in both the activities undertaken and the relational opportunities with their peers. As per school policy, mobile phones are not permitted on school camps.

We have provided information regarding procedures for communication with your daughters during camp in exceptional circumstances. Girls thrive most on these camps without the distractions from their phones.

The 125th Anniversary Concert at the Opera House on Tuesday 15 November draws nearer. It promises to be a wonderful evening where we give thanks to God for the first 125 years of Meriden. We will enjoy some beautiful performances from our talented student musicians. Book for this event via the link in this newsletter.
