Mr Loane
Head of Campus

May I extend a warm welcome to new and returning Meriden families. I hope the girls have had a restful break and are excited for the year ahead. During the holiday break, several sporting groups competed in various activities. The Athletics team competed in the National Schools Challenge in Adelaide before Christmas and had a very successful campaign with pleasing results, including personal bests and medals.

Girls participating in Badminton, Tennis and Water Polo have engaged in local, interstate and international training camps and competitions. Further details of these activities will be communicated in subsequent newsletters.

Two Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Adventurous Journeys took place. Girls working towards their Gold Award completed their journey prior to Christmas, while girls completing their Silver Award completed their journey last week.

The cast of the upcoming production of Annie has also completed several rehearsals as they work towards the production at the end of this term. Thank you to the staff who attended these events and made these activities possible.

Over the holidays, each Senior School family should have received the Information for the start of the school year  booklet. If you have not already done so, please read this document and complete the various tasks therein.

Sport trials will take place over the next two Saturdays (28 January and 4 February), please refer to the communication from the Sports Department.

Week 3 will see the commencement of Cadet parades, held at Trinity Grammar School. The Year 7 Friendship Camp departs on Wednesday 8 February to the Youthworks Conference Centre at Port Hacking. IGSA Sport will also commence on Saturday of Week 3.

The Uniform Shop has been a hive of activity over the holidays. Prior to Christmas, approval was received to accept NSW Government Back to School vouchers. Girls are encouraged to maintain a high standard when wearing their uniform, as per the guidelines in the Student Planner.

At the end of last year, expressions of interest were sought from the parent community to take on the role of Social Organiser for each year group in the Senior School. The roles will be finalised shortly but there is still time to indicate your willingness to undertake this role. If you would like to contribute to the life of the School in this way, either as an ‘old hand’ or as a newcomer, please email me at rloane@meriden.nsw.edu.au. Thank you to those who have already replied.
