Term 3 is drawing to a close and this means we are in the process of farewelling the Class of 2023. Year 12 students hosted their last Chapel service on Wednesday, followed by a lunchtime Student Christian Group “all-in”. These two activities, along with several other lunchtime events organised by the outgoing students, have created a great community atmosphere around the school.

A hotly contested netball match was played on Monday and the Year 12 Rock Bands entertained on the Avenue on Tuesday. On Friday, the highly anticipated “Mero’s Got Talent” show will take place with a range of acts from different year groups as well as a teacher special.

On Wednesday 20 September, the Year 12 Graduation will take place at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour, commencing at 10:00am. Please note the following arrangements:

  • Year 12 students and their families will make their own way to the venue. Year 12 students are expected at the venue for a roll call by 9:00am. Please meet Ms Priscilla Curran and Mrs Sharna Kershaw, on Level 2 outside Door 1. Year 12 families will enter from Level 3 via Doors 4 and 5.
  • Musicians will either travel by bus departing at 6:00am from the school or make their own way to the venue, as already arranged with parents.
  • Students from Years 7 – 11 will be transported by bus, leaving school promptly from 8:30am. Students and parents are asked to make an extra effort to get to school on time, even a little earlier than usual if being dropped off by car, ideally arriving no later than 8:00am. There will be no sport or music practice in the morning.
  • After the event, students in Years 7 to 11 will be brought back to Meriden by bus.

This Saturday marks the conclusion of the Term 3 IGSA Sport Competition. Well done to all girls who participated in Football and Netball this term. We wish the grand finalist Netball teams, MER03, MER20 and MER23, all the best as they compete in their grand finals on Saturday. Preparation for Term 4 sport is well underway. Girls can sign up for mid-week activities until the end of the term.

On the last day of Term 3, a group of Year 11 Spanish Beginners students will fly to Spain to attend a language-intensive school for two weeks and be immersed in Spanish culture. This is the school’s first overseas student trip for some time, and we are excited about the amazing opportunity this presents for the girls and their attending teachers, Ms Teresa Alonso-Lasheras and Miss Charlotte Richards. We wish them well and look forward to hearing about their trip in Term 4.

A reminder that in Term 4, summer uniform is worn. Please ensure that your daughter’s uniform is ready for the first day of term. Do not forget to label all items of your daughter’s uniform. Please see the Uniform Shop notice elsewhere in this newsletter for opening times.
