As the end of Term 4 approaches, the Junior School girls are involved in a variety of special events. The girls are busily preparing for the K – 2 Christmas Concert on Monday 4 December, and plans are well underway for the annual Junior School Prize Giving Ceremony. Amongst the many special celebrations, the staff and girls are still focused on the rich learning experiences that occur during class time.

On Wednesday 6 December, parents of students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6 will receive written feedback about their child’s learning and development this semester. The reports contain specific progress statements for English and Mathematics to help parents understand their daughter’s growth and development and her next steps for learning. In addition, each report from Kindergarten to Year 6 contains information about the student’s achievement in relation to NSW syllabus outcomes, the effort she has given to the learning areas, and feedback about her learning practices.

The teachers use a range of age-appropriate assessment strategies to prepare the written feedback, including observations, practical activities, written work, inquiry-based research, presentations, and collaborative tasks.

Written feedback is one form of communication with parents and should be read in conjunction with the information in the digital portfolios. As part of the handover process that takes place at the end of the year, the teachers will discuss the students’ areas for growth.
