Mr Loane
Head of Campus

Term 3 has begun, and despite the very cold mornings, we look forward to another great term of learning here at Meriden.

Over the break, several groups of girls engaged in exciting and enriching activities, including a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Silver Adventurous Journey, hiking and paddling in the Royal National Park. For the first time, our footballers competed in the Kanga Cup. Held in Canberra, the event provided match experience and included matches against schools from the ACT and New Zealand. A group of athletes travelled to the Gold Coast to train and compete in the Coast 2 Coast meet. Meriden girls performed very well, achieving many personal bests, meet records and medals.

A group of Year 11 students and staff are currently visiting our partner schools at Ti Tree and Neutral Junction in the Northern Territory. It is our first student trip to the Northern Territory since 2019, and we look forward to hearing about their experiences, activities and the relationships strengthened.

For families who use the Meriden buses, please take a moment to ensure your RollCall enrolment (days and routes) are correct via the app. Furthermore, for all families, please ensure all your daughter’s items, especially uniforms and drink bottles, are clearly labelled.

Term 3 sporting fixtures begin this weekend, on Saturday 27 July.

On Wednesday 31 July an information evening for a proposed student tour to China in early 2025 will take place. This is an exciting new tour, and further information can be found here. Later that week we look forward to a visit from students and staff from Kwansei Gakuin Senior High School (Nishinomiya, Japan). Meriden families will host students for approximately a week and students will attend lessons at Meriden. A reciprocal trip is planned for January, where our girls will visit Japan and stay with their host families from Kwansei Gakuin SHS.

The Meriden community is encouraged to come and support our Year 12 HSC Music students as they present their HSC repertoire on Thursday and Friday evening in Week 2 (1-2 August), from 6:00pm in Wallis Auditorium. Our senior music students greatly value a supportive audience and will enthral us with their skill and dedication to musical studies.
