The 2025 Junior School Auxiliary (JSA) committee was determined at the recent Annual General Meeting. Mrs Julia Lee, Mrs Soomi Yang, Ms Irene Chiu and Mrs Janet Kim will remain in their respective roles as President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Having such a supportive parent community is a blessing to the whole Junior School community, including the students. We are expecting the refurbishment of the Hudson Lawn playground during the Christmas break as a result of the generous support of the JSA Walk-a-thon.

The last JSA meeting for the year will be on Tuesday 19 November in Selim Library, beginning at 8:00am. All parents are welcome to attend as we finalise plans for the JSA Christmas Disco that will be held during the school day on Friday 24 November.

Sleep

In a busy term, the girls are likely to become overtired if they don’t get enough sleep. As you know, sleep contributes to health, wellbeing and academic progress. Effective sleep helps learning because the girls’ brains process, consolidate and store information while they are asleep.

The following suggestions may be useful in maintaining healthy routines.

  • Have a set bedtime.
  • Switch off any devices one hour before bedtime. The blue light affects melatonin and the activity level of the device interferes with sleep.
  • Keep bedrooms free of devices.

We also recommend that parents delay giving their children mobile phones for as long as possible as evening technology use reduces sleep quality.

At Meriden, we continue teaching and learning until the end of Term 4, and it is important that the girls sleep well to optimise each opportunity and finish the year well.
