Head of Teaching and Learning

As you may know, schools in NSW are currently in a period of significant curriculum reform. The changes result from the most comprehensive review in 30 years of what should be taught in schools, led by Professor Geoff Masters AO. The review’s findings were outlined in a 2020 report entitled Nurturing Wonder and Igniting Passion: Designs for a New School Curriculum.

Professor Masters advocated that a new curriculum should seek to best equip students with strong foundations so they leave school prepared for a lifetime of active citizenship and learning, with the knowledge, skills and attributes to prepare them for meaningful and satisfying careers. You can read about the timeline for curriculum reform here.

At a practical level, the reform means that teachers are becoming familiar with new syllabuses and developing and implementing new teaching programs. The Heads of Departments admirably lead this process in their subject areas. They are also your first point of contact for subject-specific queries about your daughter’s learning.

We are also grateful for the adaptability and commitment of the teaching staff throughout the curriculum reform.

As we come to the end of a busy term of learning, it is important that the girls have time to rest during the upcoming holidays. With this in mind, additional Year 12 classes have not been scheduled for the non-term time. However, Hudson Library will be open on weekdays from 9:00am to 2:00pm.

I look forward to seeing the girls return in Term 2. May Easter be a time to give thanks to God for his enduring love for us.
