Meriden’s inter-school sport program provides opportunities for girls to represent the School in a wide range of team and individual sports.
The endeavours of Meriden girls in the sporting arena are always positive and passionate as they strive for success. Meriden participates in the Independent Girls’ Schools Association (IGSA) and the Independent Primary Schools Heads of Australia (IPSHA), along with other invitational competitions.

Junior School

Inter-school sport is not compulsory in the Junior School. However, participation is encouraged and there is always strong voluntary participation and enthusiasm from our students. All girls from Years 3 to 6 can be involved in inter-school sport. Meriden participates in the IPSHA Saturday morning competition which enables the girls to compete with other girls’ schools at venues in Sydney. In addition to the games held on Saturdays, team members are required to attend one training session per week.
Those students with a high level of sporting ability are offered a pathway to compete at higher levels through IPSHA, Combined Independent Schools (CIS), and NSW State representation at School Sport Australia.
Senior School

All students in Years 7, 8 and 9 participate in sport during the year and are required to accumulate a minimum of two sporting points each year which is the equivalent of playing two Saturday sports. In Years 10 to 12, the majority of students choose to participate in one or more sports each year. The high level of participation in sport at Meriden creates an enthusiastic and energetic environment in which good sportsmanship prevails.
Meriden continues to be one of the most successful schools in IGSA sport, along with other invitational competitions.
Students involved in inter-school sport usually have one or two training sessions per week, either before or after school.
Students with a high level of sporting ability are offered pathways to compete at higher levels through IGSA, CIS, and NSW State representation at School Sport Australia.
Throughout the year, selected students also have the opportunity to represent Meriden at the IGSA Athletics, Cross Country, Tildesley Tennis and various Swimming and Diving events.
