Durham House celebrated the spirit of generosity and community service at a recent assembly with a special visit from Jacky Lo, representing the charity Joy of Giving.
Joy of Giving is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to collecting, repurposing and redistributing pre-loved toys to families and communities in need. Through its work, the charity brings joy to children while promoting sustainability and reducing waste.
A Meaningful Contribution
As part of the assembly, Durham House officers presented a cheque for $1,627.17 to support the charity’s mission. The donation was the result of Durham House fundraising efforts and reflected the generosity and commitment of students who contributed throughout the year.
Following the presentation, Durham House officers and Joy of Giving representatives gathered for photos to commemorate the occasion and recognise the positive impact the donation will have on the broader community.
Learning Through Service
The assembly provided students with an opportunity to learn more about the importance of giving back and how small acts of kindness can make a significant difference in the lives of others. By hearing directly from Jacky Lo about the work of Joy of Giving, students gained valuable insight into how community support can create meaningful change for families and children in need.
