Delivered by the NSW Government, the Premier’s Anzac Memorial Scholarship offers a select group of students the opportunity to take part in a fully funded international study tour exploring the history of Australians at war. The program is designed to extend students’ learning beyond the classroom through immersive, site-based experiences, guided by a military historian and experienced History teachers.
Elizabeth was selected following a rigorous and highly competitive application process, which included a detailed submission and a supporting reference from her History teacher, Mrs Kate Barnes. She is one of only 18 students from across New South Wales chosen to take part in the 2026 program.
Following in the Footsteps of History
As part of the scholarship, Elizabeth will travel to Greece and Crete during the Term 3 school holidays. The tour will take students to historically significant sites connected to Australia’s involvement in the Second World War, including major battlefields, war memorials, museums and Commonwealth War Cemeteries. Highlights of the itinerary include visits to locations such as Thermopylae, Thebes and the battlefields of Rethymno, where students will gain a deeper understanding of the experiences of Australian service personnel.

Commemorating a Significant Anniversary
The 2026 tour coincides with the 85th anniversary of the Greece and Crete campaigns of 1941, in which more than 17,000 Australians served. This context provides a particularly meaningful backdrop for students as they learn about the courage, endurance and sacrifice of those involved.
