Growing in Resilience: Year 7 Showcases Important Life Skills

During the Term 2 Pastoral Program, Year 7 students explored resilience, empathy and responsible decision-making, culminating in creative House performances that brought to life their learning about overcoming challenges.

Year 7 students participated in a range of activities as part of their Pastoral Program, focusing on developing the social and emotional skills needed to navigate challenges both at school and in everyday life. Through discussions, reflection and collaboration, students explored the emotions, choices and behaviours that can arise in difficult situations and learnt practical strategies for responding positively and thoughtfully.

Working Together to Solve Challenges

Working within their House groups, students were presented with a challenging scenario and tasked with developing an effective response. Together, they brainstormed ideas, considered different perspectives, and identified skills such as resilience, empathy, responsible decision-making and self-reflection that could help them manage the situation successfully.

Bringing Learning to Life

The term culminated in a House performance, where each group brought their scenario to life through a creative and action-based presentation. Students demonstrated not only their understanding of the concepts explored throughout the term but also their ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively and support one another in a team environment.

Celebrating Creativity and Character

The performances were judged by our Head of Student Wellbeing, Mrs Brennan, and Dean of Students 7-9, Mrs Kemp. Houses were recognised for their dramatic flair, inclusion of all students, and the extent to which they demonstrated key wellbeing skills and strategies in their response.

Looking Ahead

The presentations reflected the thoughtful, creative and mature approach Year 7 students have brought to their first year of Senior school. It was encouraging to see students engaging so positively with important conversations about wellbeing and personal growth, while building confidence in their ability to face challenges constructively.

We congratulate all Year 7 students and their Tutors for their enthusiasm and effort throughout the program. We look forward to seeing the girls continue to put these valuable skills into practice as they embrace new opportunities, strengthen friendships and navigate the experiences that the remainder of the year will bring.
