Meriden was proudly represented by a record number of four Junior School girls at the CIS Primary Cross Country Championships, held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.
The CIS Championships bring together the top cross country runners from Independent Schools across New South Wales, with students qualifying through highly competitive association pathways. Having first achieved outstanding results at the IPSHA Championships, Doris Xu (Year 3), Jacey Pan (Year 5), Claire Huang (Year 6) and Liliana Zhou (Year 6) earned the opportunity to compete against some of the state’s strongest young runners.
Rising to the Challenge
Competing in fields of more than 100 runners, the girls embraced the challenge of the demanding course and represented Meriden with determination, resilience and outstanding sportsmanship.
Doris Xu produced an exceptional performance to finish 16th in the 8/9 Years 2000m event.
In the 10 Years 2000m race, Jacey Pan placed 72nd, while Claire Huang crossed the line in 42nd place in the 11 Years 3000m event. Liliana Zhou finished 49th in the 12 Years 3000m race.
A Significant Achievement
To qualify for CIS is a significant achievement, reflecting months of dedicated training, commitment and success at preceding championship levels. The girls should be extremely proud of their efforts and the way they represented both Meriden and IPSHA on the state stage. Congratulations to Doris, Jacey, Claire and Liliana on their excellent results and on representing Meriden with pride.
