Meriden’s badminton players have enjoyed an impressive season, with a number of students achieving outstanding results across a range of major competitions and earning state-level selection.
At the NSW Junior Winter Open, Ella, Isabelle, Emily and Kerry delivered strong performances across their respective events. Isabelle was particularly successful, claiming the U17 Girls Singles and U19 Women’s Singles titles, as well as finishing runner-up alongside Ella in both the U17 Girls Doubles and U19 Women’s Doubles.
Ella also achieved impressive results, finishing runner-up in the U17 Girls Doubles and U19 Women’s Doubles with Isabelle, while reaching the semi-finals of the U17 Mixed Doubles. Emily claimed the U15 Girls Singles title and was runner-up in the U15 Girls Doubles, while also reaching the semi-finals of the U15 Mixed Doubles. Kerry reached the U15 Girls Singles semi-finals and finished runner-up alongside Emily in the U15 Girls Doubles.
Their outstanding performances have earned all four players selection to represent New South Wales at the U13 & U17 National Championships in Launceston in September. Isabelle has been selected for the U17 NSW Thunder , while Ella, Kerry and Emily will compete as members of the U17 NSW Lightning. This is a fantastic achievement and a wonderful recognition of their skill, dedication and hard work.
Further success came in the graded competitions, with Annie finishing runner-up in the E Grade Women’s Singles at both the ABL Challenge – RSL Graded Series II and the Knockout Badminton Graded Seasonal Series.
Congratulations to all our Meriden badminton players on their outstanding results. We wish Isabelle, Ella, Kerry and Emily every success as they compete against the nation’s best at the National Championships in Launceston.
