History was made at the CIS Primary Swimming and Diving Championships, with Meriden girls delivering an outstanding performance across both swimming and diving events.

Our Junior and Senior Girls relay teams both secured gold medals, with the Junior team setting a new CIS record in the Girls 8–10 Years 200‑metre Freestyle Relay. The team recorded a time of 2:15.23, breaking the longstanding record of 2:19.60 set in 2015.

Following this success, the Junior Girls Freestyle Relay Team went on to deliver a dominant performance at the NSWPSSA Swimming Championships, claiming gold and securing Meriden’s fourth consecutive victory in this event. The girls also set a new State record of 2:13.18, smashing the previous record by an impressive five seconds.

The Senior Girls Relay Team also performed exceptionally well at NSWPSSA, finishing second place in a thrilling race, just one‑tenth of a second behind the winners. Earning medals in both the Junior and Senior relay events at this elite level of competition is a rare achievement and a proud moment for the Meriden community.

Individual performances were equally impressive. Liliana Zhou delivered a strong swim to place third in the Senior 200‑metre Individual Medley, while April Zhou recorded a personal best to secure third place in the 9 Years 50‑metre Freestyle. Liliana’s achievements were further recognised with her selection to represent NSW at the School Sport Australia Swimming Championships in Melbourne this November, an exciting opportunity she will cherish for years to come.

In diving, Livia Li and Carina Li continued their strong form, producing confident and consistent performances to finish second at CIS and fourth at NSWPSSA in their respective springboard events.

As a result of these exceptional performances, Meriden qualified ten girls to compete at the NSWPSSA Swimming and Diving Championships, the largest team the school has ever sent to this event.
