Meriden’s Archdale Debaters enjoyed an outstanding season, with six of the School’s eight teams progressing to the semi-finals of the IGSA Archdale Debating Competition. The season also saw the 8A team finish as runners-up in their division and two Year 11 students selected for the IGSA Representative Debating Team for the first time in Meriden’s history.
Dedicated Debaters

It has been an outstanding season for Archdale Debating, with six of Meriden’s eight teams progressing to the semi-finals of the IGSA Archdale Debating Competition. This impressive result reflects the dedication, hard work and growing confidence demonstrated by our debaters throughout the year.

We are especially proud of our 8A team, who concluded their season as runners-up in their division. Congratulations to Andrea, Catherine, Zoe, Annebelle and Julia on this wonderful achievement and for the commitment they demonstrated throughout the competition. We also extend our sincere thanks to Head Coach Anhaar, along with Coach Tom, Coach Shaun and Coach Angi, for their support of our teams throughout the season.

A Meriden First: IGSA Representative Debating Team

Congratulations to Year 11 students Annie and Jasmine, who have been selected for the IGSA Representative Debating Team. After being recommended by Archdale adjudicators to trial for the team, they competed against more than 50 students from IGSA schools before earning their places in the prestigious 12-student representative team.

This remarkable accomplishment marks a significant milestone for Meriden, with Annie and Jasmine becoming the first students from Meriden to be  selected for the IGSA Representative Debating Team. We wish Annie and Jasmine every success as they prepare to debate against the Greater Public Schools team, the Combined Associated Schools team, and the Combined High Schools team.
