Meriden girls nominated and selected for HSC showcases

Rachel Xie and her Major Work for Visual Art

Meriden’s students have been recognised for their exemplary effort in Music, Drama, Design and Technology, and Visual Arts, receiving 22 nominations and seven selections for various annual showcases. These showcases feature some of the best major works and performances by HSC students.

 

Music and Drama

A total of 16 students were nominated for ENCORE, the annual showcase of exemplary HSC performances and compositions held at the Sydney Opera House.

  • For Performance: Claire Chan, Erin Du, Talia Jee, Evangeline Lee, Jessie Lin, Jasmine Luo, Nidhi Nellore, Teresa Yang and Rita Yeung.
  • For Music 2 Composition: Chloe Arnold, Danielle Berkmann, Zoe Chan, Talia Jee, Eleanor Kenyon and Nidhi Nellore.
  • For Music 2 and Music Extension Composition: Erika Lee.
  • For Musicology: Priya Bains, Talia Jee, Nidhi Nellore and Elisabeth Starling.

All four Musicology students and violinist Teresa Yang were selected for ENCORE.

In Drama, Zara Gupta’s moving performance of the monologue, A Chess Affair, was nominated for OnSTAGE, the showcase of exemplary major works by HSC Drama students across NSW.

 

Visual Art and Design and Technology

Two Visual Arts students were nominated and selected for the prestigious ARTEXPRESS exhibition. Natalia Vavoulas and Rachel Xie’s works will be exhibited at art galleries across NSW throughout 2025.

The Design and Technology major works by Zara Chan, Maya Rachel David and Tina Tian were all nominated for inclusion in the annual SHAPE exhibition.
